March 14, 2008. Tajik president, Qatari emir discussed Roghun hydroelectricity project
President Emomali Rahmon met with Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifah al-Thani in Dakar, Senegal. In the course of the talks, the two discussed a progress of implementation of agreements that had been reached between Tajikistan and Qatar during mutual visits of the heads of state. They, in particular, considered issues related to holding of the fist meeting of the Tajik-Qatari commission for economic and trade cooperation, which is supposed to be held in Dushanbe this year. Emomali Rahmon and Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifah al-Thani also considered the possibility of participation of Qatar in an international consortium for completing the construction of the Roghun hydroelectric power station (HPS) in Tajikistan, opening of the Tajik embassy in Doha and the Qatari embassy in Dushanbe, as well as the possibility of participation of Qatar in construction of a new aluminum smelter in Tajikistan and development of Tajik natural resources.

March 5, 2008. Kazakhstan, Qatar agreed on creation of joint investment fund
Kazakhstan and Qatar agreed on creation of the joint investment fund. The arrangement was reached during the Kazakh-Qatari negotiations on highest level in Astana. During the meeting the leaders of Kazakhstan and Qatar Nursultan Nazarbayev and sheikh Hamad ben Caliph Al Tani discussed the issues of attraction of Qatari investments into realization of large-scale projects in oil-and-gas, petrochemical, tourist and other spheres. Following the results of the negotiations, the intergovernmental agreement on encouragement and mutual protection of investments was signed. The memorandum between joint-stock company Fund of steady development Kazyna and Qatari investment fund on creation of the joint investment fund was signed. The governments of two countries signed the cooperation agreement in the field of standardization, metrology and certification.

January 22, 2008. Uzbek envoy presents copies of credentials to Qatari FM
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Qatar Abdurafik Khashimov handed over copies of credentials to Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the country Ahmed bin Abdullah Al-Mahmoud. The minister wished the ambassador success in his mission in Qatar and further growth and development in the relations between Qatar and Uzbekistan.

March 12, 2007. Kazakh President paid an official visit to Qatar
In the course of the talks at the Palace of Emir of Qatar, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani discussed measures of activation of trade-economic and cultural ties, ways of cooperation in oil and gas sector. In this context Kazakh-Qatari intergovernmental commission will hold its sitting in Doha city on May 2007.

February 22, 2007. President of Turkmenistan, Qatari Sheik discussed cooperation issues

December 18, 2006. Kazakhstan opens Embassies in Armenia, Qatar
Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Kazakhstan, has signed orders on opening embassies of Kazakhstan in Armenia and Qatar and reorganizing the diplomatic missions to Singapore and Netherlands. In particular, as per the presidential orders, the diplomatic missions to Singapore and Netherlands will be transformed into embassies of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Embassy of Kazakhstan to Armenia will be opened in Yerevan. The Embassy of Kazakhstan to Qatar will be opened in Doha. The new embassies will be opened to strengthen the diplomatic relationship. All four orders come into effect as from 1 January, 2007.

The 5th session of Foreign Affairs Ministers of Asian Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) member-countries was held in Doha, Qatar. The FMs exchanged views on topic issues of the Asian continent, expansion of cooperation among ACD participants, and boosting efficiency of the forum. May 26, 2006. Uzbekistan, Tajikistan join Asia Cooperation Dialogue
Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, two Central Asian states, joined to Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) during the organization’s foreign ministers' summit in Doha, Qatar. A Doha Declaration, issued after a two-day meeting, said these two countries increase number of ACD member states to 30. The Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) was inaugurated in June 2002 in Cha-Am, Thailand, where 18 Asian Foreign Ministers met together for the first time. The ACD is a continent-wide forum, the first of its kind in Asia . More specifically, the ACD aims to constitute the missing link in Asia by incorporating every Asian country and building an Asian Community without duplicating other organizations or creating a bloc against others.
